The Alaska Highway is the primary route from the upper region of BC into the northernmost reaches of North America. Just 42km past Fort St. John is the Shepherd’s Inn, and for 38 years it’s been a welcoming stop for travellers who need rest and replenishment on their way North. The Inn features a nice simple diner-style restaurant with home-cooked meals, all-day breakfast, and some of the tastiest and wholesome soups made from scratch.
It’s not just travellers that come in to enjoy this one of the many Fort St. John restaurants that further interest in Fort St. John real estate. The Inn is located at 11892 Mile 72 Alaska Highway Frontage Road and is open from 6AM to 10PM Monday to Saturday. There’s never any shortage of seating, and buses of travellers and RV tours are more than welcome all the time. If you’re passing by and your tummy is grumbling, you’d do well to pop in for a bite to eat and a cup of coffee to go along with it.
The food at the Shepherd’s Inn really is the type that you can imagine coming to be on your stovetop or in your oven at home. That’s definitely what they aim for, and customers definitely seem to appreciate the genuine quality of it. Their clubhouse sandwich is particularly good, as is the pot pie with fresh vegetable and mash potato sides. Breads and soups are made from scratch right here onsite, and they also have delicious homemade pies, deserts, and baked goods.
For booking inquiries, RV or bus tour reservations or to place to-go orders, place call the Inn at (250) 827-3676. They’ll be happy to hear from you, and even more so to see you in person.
