Description:

The North Peace Cultural Centre opened its doors in June of 1992 and has been the centre of the Arts & Cultural Community since. With its unique lobby and concourse that stretches literally for a city block, it has acquired "A Mall for the Arts" reputation. Paralleling 100th Street, and entering on 100th Avenue, you walk by the Peace Arts Gallery, Box Office and Administration, and the Cultured Cafe (our sidewalk style Bistro). The entrance to the Public Library comes up next, or you can head upstairs to relax in our open loft, that has a 270 degree view of the city. When you leave the back doors, you are on the next block. Oh and don't forget, a state of the art, 413 seat proscenium theatre is off to your right.

The Centre proudly hosts hundreds of events every year, and is home to the Peace Arts Gallery Society, internationally renowned Watt School of Irish Dance and a resident Community Choir, and the North Peace Community Choir. The Stage North Theatre Society produces three or four major drama productions every year and the local School District utilizes it for school shows and cultural performances. Meeting rooms and dressing rooms fill the rest of the facility and you can enroll in the Centre's own artSpace Educational Programs throughout most of the year.

In the very heart of Fort St. John and the North Peace, the Cultural Centre is walking distance to three major hotels, shopping, restaurants and service businesses.

The staff of the Centre are professional, courteous and friendly and will try to accommodate all your performance or event needs. If you are touring and booking your routes, Fort St. John should be on the list. This is the stop for touring in the northeast of British Columbia, only seven hours north of Edmonton with major stops available in Grande Prairie and Dawson Creek. Then it's over the mountains and a five hour trip to Prince George. Consider including the North Peace Cultural Center in your touring plans.
